Close to the village of Ambleside, the highly picturesque Stockghyll Force is a spectacular divided waterfall dropping 70 feet in 2 distinct steps and crashing into pools below. Here in the sheltering rocks and woodland, penetrating rays of the late afternoon sun magically illuminate a small section of the falls, casting deep contrasting shadows against the white cascades of water.
