The ‘simple’ seed head of a dandelion is wonderfully complex and beautiful. Here, a breath of wind had unsettled some of the seeds and I was captivated by their graceful dispersal. The ‘dandelion clock’ is a rich source of folklore, blowing on the seeds is supposed to foretell one’s lifespan, number of children as well as the time. The seed head is also known as a ‘wishy blow’, a wish made and blown onto the seeds to scatter them is supposed to carry the wish away for fulfilment or a message to a loved one.
